Association Enfants Antananarivo

On Saturday, March 21, 2026, Hygeia Medical conducted an awareness session in collaboration with the “Association Enfants Antananarivo”. The activity focused on the prevention of domestic accidents as well as emotional and psychological well-being. We began our first session with the "Tsiriry and Voronkely" group. Through interactive discussions adapted to the age of the participants, the children acquired essential knowledge for their safety and well-being in an educational and friendly atmosphere.

This Wednesday afternoon, we led a workshop for teenagers at the MADE Antohomadinika center, focusing on raising awareness about early pregnancy. This session served as a review and reinforcement of existing knowledge, as the topic had already been covered with the young people. Through a video presentation followed by a discussion, the teenagers were able to review key information, better understand the consequences of early pregnancy, and reflect on the importance of making responsible choices for their future. The discussions were enriching and allowed us to answer their questions in a supportive environment. This workshop helped reinforce preventative messages and encouraged young people to take care of their health and their future.

This Wednesday morning, the 4th, we also led a sleep awareness session with the young people at the Grandir Dignement center in Ambatoroka. This meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the importance of sleep for health, concentration, and daily well-being. Through discussions and interactive activities, the young people discovered good habits that promote quality sleep and were able to share their own experiences. Their active participation and numerous questions made the session very dynamic and enriching. This learning experience served as a reminder that getting enough sleep is essential for growing up, learning, and taking care of one's health.

On Tuesday, March 3rd, we had the pleasure of leading a mental health awareness session with the children of the Fui Mifanasoa association in Ambohimpanaja. This meeting was a rich experience of exchange, sharing, and listening. Through simple discussions and interactive activities, the children discovered the importance of recognizing and expressing their emotions, taking care of their inner well-being, and supporting their peers. Despite the challenges some of them may be facing, the children demonstrated great curiosity, active participation, and a wonderful openness. This session reminded them that they all have value, that their feelings matter, and that it is important to speak up when they need help. This moment was touching, inspiring, and hopeful, reinforcing our conviction that raising awareness about mental health among young people is essential to helping them grow up with confidence and resilience.

As part of its community outreach, Hygeia Medical organized an educational campaign for children at the Miora Malaho Association. The session focused on oral health and took place in a dynamic and participatory atmosphere. The children actively engaged in the discussions, demonstrating a genuine interest in the topic. The awareness session concluded with a hands-on teeth-brushing activity, reinforcing the learning in a concrete and fun way. It was a wonderful moment of sharing, combining education, prevention, and a friendly atmosphere.

On February 26th, we organized an awareness session on Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) at Ecole 42. This activity was open to everyone, but the participants were exclusively male. Their large turnout clearly demonstrates their desire to learn more about sexual health and better understand the issues related to STIs. The session was particularly dynamic, marked by numerous exchanges, relevant questions, and genuine interest in the topics covered: modes of transmission, means of prevention, the importance of testing, and individual responsibility. The discussions helped to break down some taboos, correct misconceptions, and encourage safer and more responsible behaviors. We commend the participants' commitment and curiosity, which show that young men also want to be proactive about their health and better informed in order to protect themselves and others.

Yesterday, February 25th, Hygeia Medical conducted a puberty awareness session with teenagers from the ADO workshop at the MADE Antohomadinika center. Despite the heavy rains, our commitment to youth education and health remained unwavering. In a friendly and interactive atmosphere, participants gained a better understanding of the physical and emotional changes associated with puberty, were able to ask questions freely, and receive age-appropriate advice. This activity further highlighted the importance of a safe space for discussion to support teenagers' healthy and informed development.

On February 19th, we led an awareness session with parents from the “Association Avotraina Faravohitra” on blood pressure, diabetes, and obesity. The meeting also provided an opportunity to review some tips on preventing monkeypox and to raise awareness about the risks of bronchiolitis, which has been prevalent among children recently. The discussion was interactive and enriching for all participants.

On February 18th, we organized an awareness session on monkeypox with the young people of “Grandir Dignement Ambataroka”. The exchange allowed for a better understanding of the modes of transmission, symptoms and prevention measures, in a participatory and dynamic atmosphere.

As part of the EDU CURARE project in collaboration with MADE Antohomadinika, we organized the 4th STI awareness and screening day at AIM Anosizato on February 17, 2026. This day provided participants with information on the importance of prevention, early detection, and treatment of sexually transmitted infections. In a professional and supportive environment, beneficiaries were able to access confidential testing and receive personalized advice. This activity reflects our ongoing commitment to promoting sexual health, reducing taboos, and strengthening access to testing services within the community.

Faced with a worrying rise in HIV/AIDS in Madagascar, this high-level meeting aimed to define objectives and strategies and strengthen coordination to scale up prevention, treatment, and support for those affected. The event "Se lever et Combattre la/sa Pauvreté held on April 22, 2025, at Akamasoa University, was an initiative of the Axian Foundation and Entretiens, in collaboration with Father Pedro Opeka. It brought together approximately 100 participants, including high-level representatives of the Malagasy government, donors, CSOs, and beneficiaries. The first day, April 21, was dedicated to networking, while the second day featured conferences, funding discussion panels, testimonials, and workshops. We took part in a workshop on comprehensive sexuality education in Madagascar, highlighting the major challenges related to sexual health and reproductive rights of young people. We discussed the high rates of early pregnancies, the low usage of modern contraceptives, and the lack of sexual education. The discussions focused on international recommendations, local commitments, and the need to promote a sexual education program in schools. The workshop, with 40 participants from civil society, technical and financial partners, as well as 10 parliamentarians, took place on February 21, 2024. The expected outcomes include a common advocacy document and a defined advocacy strategy.

Our educational campaign on STDs at Ankatso was a rewarding dive into a mix of captivating discoveries and challenges to overcome. On the one hand, our participants acquired essential knowledge for their health in a warm environment that encouraged them to express themselves freely. The speakers demonstrated attentive listening. However, some obstacles arose: a too short question-and-answer session, tight schedules, and another major university event taking place concurrently. Prevention is key, and we're thrilled to have taken a step forward in promoting safer sexual practices at the Fokontany Ampefiloha Ambodirano! Our charity, with the help of our collaborators at TMF, delivered an educational campaign on STI prevention and treatment to a group of low-income women ranging from 20 to 65 years old - some belonging to the sex work community. With the generous donations we received, we were able to distribute free condoms in partnership with the fokontany. Condoms remain too expensive in Madagascar, and we're honored to have played a small part in keeping the population safe. Knowledge is power, and we're honored to have empowered the women of very-low income areas with information that will improve their health and wellbeing! Our charity delivered an educational campaign on puberty changes, vaccinations in adolescence, and STI prevention and treatment to 75 dedicated attendees at Mission Vidah in collaboration with Compassion Madagascar. Despite the challenging journey they faced to get here - navigating damaged roads and broken bridges due to the recent cyclone - their eagerness to learn was unwavering. We want to thank the amazing collaborators at Compassion Madagascar and the dedicated men and women who made this possible. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those who need it most!
